PLT Membership RequirementsMembership in Pi Lambda Theta is open to qualified candidates, including persons with disability, without regard to age, race, color, gender, national origin, religion, or sexual orientation. PLT Candidate Qualification Packet If you are a current PLT member and live within 50 miles of the Fort Wayne area, you can can become a member of our chapter for $15 per year. You can affiliate with more than one chapter. Chapter membership assists with financial support for our special projects (tutoring, college preparation workshops, and translation of children's books into Burmese), professional development of current and future chapter leaders, and general operations. Dues can be paid via mail or credit card to the PLT International Office (phone: 800-487-3411). To affiliate with our chapter, click below to download the form. PLT Chapter Transfer-Reactivation Form Qualifications for student candidates -- A graduate student must have completed at least two courses in a graduate degree program or post-baccalaureate certification or credential program. If a graduate student has completed fewer than two graduate courses, the undergraduate GPA should be used. Undergraduate must have achieved at least a sophomore standing in a baccalaureate degree program or pre-baccalaureate degree program in education that meets prerequisites for a baccalaureate degree program. Qualifications for professional candidates -- 1. no present enrollment in a degree program, and 2. a minimum of a baccalaureate degree, and 3. completion of a degree, a credential program, or a certification program at a regionally accredited institution in a field leading to a career in education, and 4. a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the most advanced degree, credential or certification program, and 5. submission of a résumé/vita or portfolio as evidence of outstanding contributions to the profession. A professional in another field, e.g., psychologist, counselor, nutritionist, and librarian, may be qualified for membership if (s)he practices in or has contributed to the field of education. Pi Lambda Theta welcomes as members professionals certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Evidence of certification may be submitted in lieu of meeting any other criteria required for professional candidates. PLT-recognized awards: In addition to teachers certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, Pi Lambda Theta recognizes recipients of the following awards as satisfying requirements for membership. ˇ Christa McAuliffe Fellows ˇ National Teachers of the Year (each state/territory) ˇ Presidential Awardees in Mathematics and Science Teaching ˇ Disney Teacher Awardees ˇ All-USA Teacher Team Members
